January - Cybercrime speaker - A local expert will meet with us about cybercrime. We will learn what types of crimes are happening and how we can protect ourselves and our children from becoming victims.
February - Meet the Chief! - Chief Corwin will sit down with us and talk about happenings in the dept and answer any specific questions we might have. (1Q Business Meeting)
March - Candy Whirley - Come hear an amazing speaker that is both thought provoking and hilarious all at once! Candy will give you a new outlook on your surroundings and infuse you with energy and excitement. Those who attended last year can't wait for this year's event. Don't miss it!
April - Crime Lab - A unique opportunity to tour the crime lab, talk with the technicians and learn about what they do there and how it impacts our loved ones in their daily duties. Reservations are required!
May - Range Day - This is a hands on safety and handling training for the firearm your officer carreis. Your dept member must attend this event if you intend to fire. Sorry,no pregnant women or children allowed for safety sake. A potluck picnic will follow. Also in May will be the 1st annual Policeman's Ball (Semi-formal/formal dinner and dance.) Plans are still being developed for this event. Stay tuned for more details and volunteer/planning opportunities! (2Q Business Meeting)
June - Wine tasting party - Come and enjoy friendship and fun at this popular event! Bring a bottle of wine to share and your own glass!
July - T- Bones Baseball game - KCPD night at the T-Bones game. Bring the family!
August - Ride-A-Long Month - For those who are comfortable, ride-a-longs provide an opportunity to see first hand what your loved one does for a living! While you will not be allowed to ride with your loved one (per dept policy), talk with them about what to expect and coordinate a date and time that works best for you. (3Q Business Meeting)
September - K9 Demonstration and Helicopter Ride-Along - The K9 Unit will give us a demonstration regarding the training their dogs receive and show us how they sniff out drugs or explosives. An opportunity to ride in the helicopter will also be available. Tentative plans are to make this an evening event!
October - Department Wide Fall Festival - Back by popular demand!! We will be hosting a department wide picnic open to all department members and their families with a Fall theme tentatively to include hay rides, pumpkins and of course all your KCPD favorites like the helicopter, DARE cars, TRT Bearcat, etc. Watch for details!
November - Physical Agility Test - An opportunity to see if you have what it takes to run the PAT! Don't worry, no cameras!! (4Q Business Meeting)
December - Holiday Brunch/Ornament Exchange - We will cap our year off in traditional style with food and merriment! Start shopping for those police themed ornaments now! We will also be wrapping gifts for our adopted family.
*Quarterly Business Meetings are open to all members. Board members and chairpersons are required to attend. Business meetings will be held on a separate date and not combined with any other event scheduled for the month.
